Bobcats Drop Narrow Men's Tennis Decision to Hawaii on Sunday

Rainbows win in final singles match
Montana State won three of the six singles matches but dropped a hard-fought 4-3 decision to Hawaii in Phoenix on Sunday.
The Bobcats fell behind 3-1, but wins by Yassin Elaroussy at No. 5 and Alex Vlahos at the sixth ladder spot drew the Bobcats even at 3-3. Hawaii's Karl Collins captured a 4-6 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles to clinch the Rainbows' win.
"This was another close match," said Montana State coach Mateus Ceolin, "and we've played several of these this season. It was a hard-fought match by this group of young guys."
Montana State's first point came on a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles by freshman Camille Chantron. "I'm really happy for Yassin and Camille," Ceolin said. "They had a great weekend overall and are figuring out their identity on the tennis court. It's awesome that Vlahos got his first Division I win at the No. 6 spot."
The Cats lost all three matches in Phoenix, but closed the distance in each one. "I'm looking forward to a great few days of practice back in Bozeman and transitioning our focus to our first conference match this weekend against Weber State," Ceolin said.
The Bobcats play a non-league match at Idaho State on Friday before opening Big Sky play at Weber State on Saturday.
