1992-93 Women’s Basketball- Big Sky Champions
Without a doubt, Montana State’s 1992-93 women’s basketball team is the greatest ever to don the blue and gold.
The ’92-93 squad finished the season with a 22-7 overall record, and a 13-1 Big Sky Conference mark. The squad accomplished more than any other team in school history. The team was strong inside, shot well, ran the floor, and defended. And for all its accomplishments, it will forever be remembered for a glorious moment in the spring.
On March 13, 1993, the Bobcats beat their arch-rivals from the University of Montana for the second time in eight days. The first win over Montana, a week earlier in Bozeman – known as the coin toss game, because the host site for the conference tournament between the 13-1 teams whose only loss had been to the other was determined by a coin flip after the game.
The 1992-93 squad was led by Big Sky MVP and All-America Cass Bauer along with all-conference performers Mindy Casagranda, Anny Wherry and Jennifer Guilland.
