MSU tops North Dakota in first-ever conference meeting
Montana State swept the singles matches and won the doubles point along the way to a 7-0 rout of North Dakota in Big Sky men's tennis action Friday in Grand Forks, ND.
Diego Campos raised his singles record to a Big Sky-best 10-3 with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles over Joe Lee, and five of the six players in the team's lineup won their match in straight sets. Still, Bobcat coach Jared Burnham was impressed with UND's first-year program. “North Dakota competed very hard,” he said. “They did a nice job. But I was glad with our effort, and very happy to be 5-0 in the conference.”
The Bobcats raised their record to 5-0 in Big Sky play, 9-5 overall, with the win. One of the team's sternest tests of the season lies straight ahead, as MSU visits defending champion Sacramento State on March 12. That is Montana State's final Big Sky road match of the season.
