Bobcat Netmen Show Well in Weekend Swing Through Beehive State
2/6/2017 6:19:00 AM | Men's Tennis
In spite of two losses, the Bobcats competed
The success didn't come in the final score, but Montana State coach Jared Burnham found plenty of positives in his team's 6-1 loss at BYU on Saturday and the 4-0 loss at Utah on Sunday.
"I thought we played very well at BYU (Saturday)," Burnham said. "Adrian (Torrico) had a match point and Kellen (Bates) and Alex (Flink) played really well and stayed in their matches until the end. Kasper (Parlklo) didn't play his best match and he was competitive, too. The guys really gave themselves a chance to win against a good opponent."
The Utah match was more decisive, with the Utes winning two doubles matches and sweeping through singles play. "We mixed up the lineup just to give the guys different challenges," Burnham said. "Utah's a very good team."
Burnham remains pleased with his team's progress. "The guys are improving all the time," he said. "We played a lot of matches in a fairly short period of time, and now we have a few weeks to get back on the courts and practice. This will be a time we need to focus and get better."
MSU's next match is a non-league contest February 25 at Montana.
