Douglass Closes MSU Track & Field’s Season Taking 17th at NCAA Meet

Montana State senior Kyle Douglass capped his collegiate career by finishing 17th in the men’s discus on Friday, June 8, at the NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships
EUGENE, Ore. – Montana State senior Kyle Douglass capped his collegiate career by finishing 17th in the men's discus on Friday, June 8, at the NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships at historic Hayward Field.
Douglass was among the top six in the discus standings after his first throw registered in at 169 feet, 4 inches (51.63m). He faulted on his second throw and was eighth among first heat competitors heading into his final attempt.
The Missoula native completed his best throw of the evening on his third attempt by hitting a mark of 176-10 (53.91m). That effort put him in seventh place following the first of two flights.
The second flight of competitors eventually took the final seven spots that moved on to another set of three throws in the finals.
Douglass, the third Bobcat ever to compete at the NCAA Championships in the discus, earned honorable mention All-America accolades for his appearance in Eugene. He narrowly missed out on Second Team All-America honors, with Kentucky's Noah Castle recording a throw of 177-00 to place 16th overall.
Montana State track and field's 2017-18 season came to an end with the conclusion of the NCAA Championships.
