Bobcats Fall to Northern Colorado in Home Men's Tennis Match

UNC rides wave of energy, emotion to dual win
BOZEMAN, Montana – The difference between Saturday and Sunday, for Montana State men's tennis coach Trey Morris, was easy to describe.
"Night and day," Morris said after his Bobcats fell 5-2 to Northern Colorado in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center on Sunday. "It really was. There are a lot of positives from Saturday (when MSU beat Portland State), but today was a little setback. We've got to be ready to go every single match."
Although Montana State won easily at No. 1 doubles – "That was the best we've played at No. 1 this year," Morris said – UNC took the doubles point with hard fought wins at the second and third ladder spots. "They are a very high, high, high emotion team," Morris said. "We know that if we jump out early things are going to go well for us, but we didn't. They got up, and when they get up they stay up. Credit them for playing well and for bringing the energy and emotion."
Leading 1-0, the Bears took singles matches at No. 3 and No. 2 out of the gates. Nejc Sitar stemmed the tide for Montana State at No. 1 with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win, but Adolfo Arroyo's victory at No. 4 singles over MSU's Marcos Zelver sealed UNC's win. Manuel Monteiro, at No. 6 singles, also earned a win, 6-3, 7-5 over Alex Exsted.
The loss drops Montana State to 4-4 on the season, 1-1 in Big Sky play. The Bears are 5-7 overall, 2-2 in the league.
