Montana State sophomore Tilde Baangman has been named Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Women's Nordic MVP for her efforts this season, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
Baangman, a product of Oestersund, Sweden, captured the RMISA 20km classic title at the league's championship meet on Sunday morning. She also finished second in Saturday's 7.5km freestyle at Crosscut Mountain Sports Center.
This winter, Baangman skied 11 races- six in classic and five in freestyle. She has finished no worse than sixth place and has made an unprecedented nine podium (top 3) appearances for the Bobcats, including four wins. Baangman captured victories in classic at the Westminster and Denver Invitationals, along with the RMISA title. In freestyle, she first at the DU Invite.
In the RMISA season MVP standings, Baangman posted 178 points in classic, while the next competitor, Sydney Plamer-Leger of Utah, recorded 139. In freestyle, Baangman registered 138 points, twenty ahead of Alaska-Anchorage's Astrid Stav.
Montana State competes at the NCAA Skiing Championship March 6-9 in Steamboat Springs, Colo.
