Bobcats Open CNFR on Sunday, Swing Into Full Gear Monday

Wes Shaw marks 74 in bareback riding
Five Bobcats opened the 2024 College National Finals Rodeo, with Wes Shaw leading the way in the bareback riding.
Shaw marked a 74 in Sunday's first round Sunday – billed as Bulls, Broncs and Breakaway – as the CNFR opened competition. MSU's four other Sunday competitors failed to mark. Monte Bailey failed to score in saddle bronc, Cole Gerhardt failed to mark in bareback, and Meghan McGinley and Tayla Moeykens failed to score in breakaway roping.
Each of the rodeo's nine events swing into full gear on Monday. Bailey (saddle bronc) and Moeykens (breakaway roping) each compete in the second round of their Sunday events. The first round begins for Bode Spring, Wes Shaw and Wyatt Jensen compete in tie-down roping. Steer wrestling begins for Trav Johnson, Jaden Whitman and Gerhardt. Moeykens and Alexis McDonald open barrel racing competition, while Jessica Stevens and Breyer Newman compete in goat tying.
