
Cats Place Sixth at Griak Invite in Minneapolis

Lindsey Paulson leads the charge as MSU puts four in top-55 on Friday morning
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Montana State women's cross country turned in a strong performance to place sixth in a deep 17-team field at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis on Friday morning.
The Cats went 15-30-41-50-68 to close with 204 points and finish ahead of Ohio State, Navy, San Diego State, and North Dakota State, among others.
Minnesota took the team crown on their home course with 47 points, narrowly defeating runner-up Utah Valley, who finished with 53 points. Wyoming (79 points), Colorado State (99 points), and Ohio (162 points) rounded out the top-five.
Lindsey Paulson, a redshirt sophomore from Belt, Montana, led the way for the Bobcats with a 15th place finish individually in her first big race since 2022.
Paulson steadily climbed throughout the meet, coming in at 24th through the first mile before rising to 21st at the 3,000 meter mark and 18th at the 5,000 meter mark, crossing the line in 15th.
Kyla Christopher-Moody, the reigning Big Sky Women's Cross Country Athlete of the week, placed 30th, while Grace Gilbreth finished 42nd.
Alex Moore (52nd) was the No. 4 MSU runner, while true freshman Madi Siana made a statement by ending the morning as the final scoring Bobcat scoring placing 76th.
Fellow freshman Niamh Motley placed 92nd and redshirt freshman Natalie Wood placed 136th as the sixth and seventh MSU runners, respectively.

Montana State's men will be the ones to make the trip to the Midwest next week, competing in the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday, Sept. 27, in Madison, Wisconsin.
The highlight of the regular season calendar features more than 15 of the country's top-30 ranked teams competing on the same course that will host the NCAA Division I Championships in November.
Montana State's women return to action on October 11 at the Dellinger Invite, hosted by the University of Oregon in Eugene.
