MSU looks to continue success in abbreviated fall season
BOZEMAN, Montana – Montana State rides leads in the Big Sky Region men's and women's standings into the final college rodeo of the fall season when it competes at the UM Western Rodeo in Dillon on Friday and Saturday.
The Bobcats hold a lead of more than 600 points after three rodeos, with 2,718 points to UM Western's 2,077. MSU Northern is third with 1,001 points. The women's standings are more bunched near the top, with four teams within 400 points of each other. MSU has scored 886.16 points, while MSU Northern (698.33), and the University of Montana (655.5) are close behind. UM Western is fourth with 500.16 points.
Bobcats Cole Gerhardt and Wes Shaw have dominated the men's competitions, and stand first and second in the all-around standings. MSU's Michaela McCormick owns a lead in the women's all-around.
This weekend's rodeo wraps up an abbreviated fall season. Traditionally the Big Sky Region convenes in Havre for a fall rodeo at MSU Northern, but this year's MSUN event was pushed to the spring. The next Big Sky Region event is the MSU Spring Rodeo, which begins April 11 in Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.
