Cats Fourth at DU Invite; Lamontagne Paces MSU in Giant Slalom at Utah

While the alpine team took to the slopes in Utah, the Bobcat Nordic contingent was wrapping things up at the Denver Invitational at Maloit Park.
Montana State's Justine Lamontagne placed fifth in giant slalom to guide the Bobcats at the University of Utah Invitational on Sunday at Utah Olympic Park in Park City.
Lamontagne posted a two-run total of 2:05.58.
With the Nordic portion of the UU Invite held in January, the alpine races took center stage beginning with giant slalom. Colorado's Louison Accambray won the women's event in 2:03.81.
Also, scoring points for the Bobcats were Tea Kiesel, 11th, 2:07.90, and Mackenzie Greenslade, 22nd, 2:10.549. MSU's women recorded 65 points, the third highest total for the event.
Jaime Casselman guided the Montana State men finishing seventh with a clocking of 2:02.62. He was followed by Gianluca Boehm, tenth, 2:02.89, and Isak Staurset, 14th, 2:03.37. Staurset registered the third fastest opening run in 1:00.97.
After six events, Utah sits atop the team standings with 568 points. The Utes are followed by Colorado 485, Denver 455.5, MSU 340, Alaska Anchorage 316.5, Alaska Fairbanks 217.5, Westminster 101, Nevada 85.5, and Colorado Mountain, 36.

Anna Pryce had MSU's top showing in the 10K Freestyle Pursuit, which combined Saturday's classic race with Sunday's freestyle performance. Pryce finished fifth with a two-event time of 56:44.8.
She was followed in scoring by Morgan Richter, 12th, 59:26.7, and Rosie Whittington Evans, 15th, 1:00:51.8. Delaney Jackson, 1:02:31.4, Sabine Comeau, 1:03:33.1, and Lily Murnane, 1:04:16.2, also finished for MSU.
Denver's Lea Wenaas won the women's title in 54:45.0.
Gavin Galyardt led the MSU men's contingent placing 14th in 50:47.2. He was followed by Phineas Fischer, 18th, 52:56.0, Jack Conde, 19th, 53:54.4. and Joel Power, 20th, 54:55.3.
Utah's Zachary Jayne captured the men's race in 47:56.9.
Colorado ran away with the team title posting 740 points. The Buffaloes were followed by DU 633.5, UU 601, MSU 435, UAA 210, UAF 185, UN 165.5, CMC 113.5, and Wyoming 113.
