Montana State freshman Tea Kiesel reached the podium on the final day of the 76th Annual RMISA Championships, placing third in slalom with a two-run clocking of 1:39.23 on Saturday afternoon at Alyeska Ski Resort.
The product of Lake Tahoe, Calif., registered the third fastest opening run in 50.05. Denver's Sara Rask captured the slalom title in 1:37.65.
Also, scoring points for MSU was Ylva Falksete, who finished 14th in 1:43.64.
The Bobcat men's alpine squad was led by Jamie Casselman, who placed tenth with a two-run total of 1:30.96. Gianluca Boehm also produced points for MSU finishing 14th in 1:31.29. Tanner Perkins, Luc Dalton and Isak Staurset did not finish their first tuns.
The Montana State Nordic contingent was led by Katey Houser, who finished fifth in the 20K freestyle at Kincaid Park. Houser, a junior from Palmer, Alaska, completed the course in 57:11.2. She was followed by Morgan Richter, 11th, 59:26.2, and Rosie Whittington Evans, 16th, 1:00:36.4. Anna Pryce finished 21st in 1:01:44.2.
Jack Conde led the MSU men placing 31st in 54:32.6, while Joel Power, 33rd, clocked 57:10.6.
"This was an emotional weekend for the Nordic Bobcats," said MSU head coach Adam St. Pierre. "The last regular season races for our seniors. Unfortunately, the team had been battling a bit of illness since arriving in Alaska a week ago so only three men were healthy enough to race yesterday and only two were healthy enough to race today. Luckily, those two were our seniors, Conde and Power.
"On the women's side, Lily Murnane finished her Bobcat career," St. Pierre added. "It was a career hampered by injury. (Anna) Pryce didn't have her best race this weekend but will represent the Bobcats at the NCAA Championships in two weeks. Morgan Richter ended her first year with the Bobcats with her best race of the season."
Utah won the RMISA title racking up 683 points. The Utes were followed by Colorado 606, Denver 548, Alaska Anchorage 421, MSU 403, Alaska Fairbanks 307, Westminster 200, Nevada 172, and Colorado Mountain 130.
