“Collegiate skiing is a great pathway to making a career in the sport,” Shampeny added. “MSU is one of the only schools in the country putting skiers onto national teams.”
U.S. Ski & Snowboard announced the twenty-one athletes nominated to the Stifel U.S. Cross Country Ski Team and the forty-nine athletes for the Stifel U.S. Alpine Ski Team for 2025-26 season, and the list includes three Montana State skiers.
Earning nominations for the Bobcats are Nordic standout Kate Oldham and alpine racers Keely Cashman and Tanner Perkins. Oldham and Cashman were named to the USST B Team, while Perkins will race with the C Team.
U.S. Ski & Snowboard announces its teams in two phases: nomination and acceptance. The athletes are formally nominated to the Stifel U.S. Ski Teams in May. Pending their acceptance of the nomination and adherence to the team expectations outlined in team criteria, athletes are officially announced to the team in September 2025.
"We are so proud of Kate for making the U.S. Ski Team," said MSU head Nordic coach Adam St. Pierre. "It is a great honor for our Nordic program to have an athlete moving on to the U.S. Ski Team after her years at MSU. It shows that Bobcat skiers can compete with the best in the world during their time at MSU, and we look forward to having more athletes attain this honor.
Three-time Olympic medalist and seven-time World Championship medalist Jessie Diggins leads the Nordic A team along with two-time World Championship medalist Julia Kern, and two-time Olympian Rosie Brennan. Olympians Gus Schumacher and Ben Ogden, who both claimed their second World Cup podiums this season, alongside Olympians JC Schoonmaker and dual-sport athlete Sophia Laukli, also return to the A Team for the 2025-26 season.
New faces include Oldham, who made her World Cup debut in 2024-25 and secured several top 30 results and a trip to the World Championships; Lucas Wilmot, a University of Utah ski team athlete; and Tabor Greenberg, the 2024 Youth Olympic Games skate sprint bronze medalist.
"Seeing Kate improve every year gives us the confidence to know that we are preparing our athletes to compete with the best," St. Pierre added.
Mikaela Shiffrin, two-time Olympic champion and eight-time world champion, returns to the alpine team, alongside World Championship medalist Lauren Macuga, 82-time World Cup winner and three-time Olympic medalist Lindsey Vonn, two-time world champion Breezy Johnson, and 2022 super-G Olympic silver medalist Ryan Cochran-Siegle.
"Tanner and Keely making the USST is a great measure of the strength and support of MSU alpine skiing," said head coach Kris Shampeny. "We support our athletes with all their goals, school, and athletics, and it shows in their success on the slope and in the classroom.

The 2025-26 Audi FIS Alpine World Cup season is scheduled for the men and women in late October with a pair of giant slalom races in Soelden, Austria and includes a break for the Olympic Winter Games in Milan Cortina. Three stops are expected in the United States: men and women at the Stifel Copper Cup presented by United at Copper Mountain, Colorado, Nov. 27-30, and men's speed at the Stifel Birds of Prey Dec. 5-7.
The 2025-26 FIS Cross Country World Cup calendar will be confirmed by the International Ski Federation in June 2025, including the official announcement of the Stifel World Finals at the end of the season in Lake Placid, New York.
