CASPER, Wyo. (June 17, 2025) – Several Bobcats turned in solid results on day three of the 2025 CNFR on Tuesday, the most active and intense long round of the week-long event.
Cole Detton posted two strong times in steer wrestling to complete his long go-round, marking 8.1 in slack in the morning and 5.0 during Tuesday night's evening performance. Detton is in fourth place and Mike Naninni seventh with his 6.0 in the third go with about three quarters of the competitors remaining. Detton's 8.1 was 21st in the second go, while Nannini failed to score.
"Round two was a roller coaster," said MSU head coach Kyle Whitaker. "We had a few guys who had great round ones that went out of it in round two. Cole Gerhardt and Cole Detton had done a great job despite not drawing the best stock out here. We still have a chance to get quite a few to the short go, we just haven't been getting as many go-round points as we were hoping for."
Four Bobcat women finished their competition in the long go-rounds on Tuesday, and now wait to see if they qualify for Saturday's championship go. Anneliese McCurry is currently in second overall in the barrel racing with a 43.25, while Shantell Brewer is 11th with 52.98. Ella Moedl is 13th in breakaway roping with 2.9, but failed to score in two of the three rounds. Haven Wolstein is 15th in breakaway with 3.6, marking in just one round, and is ninth in goat tying with scores in two of the three rounds totaling 13.8 seconds.
"On the women's side, I've been pretty pleased with how they've handled it, especially since they are all CNFR rookies. Anneliese winning the round in the barrels is obviously a highlight, but the goat tiers have been solid and I hope Faith and Michaela can both make the short go. Sydney Berquist has an outside chance to make the short go in the breakaway, which would be great. We stil have a chance to make some big moves, we just have to take advantage of every ride or run that we have left."
