Lauren Greeny, Maddie Montoya, Becca Tschetter, Eva Heinz, Hannah Boraas, and Scarlet Weidig earn spots on prestigious list for academic and athletic excellence
BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Six Montana State golfers were named Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars, the organization announced on Monday.
Lauren Greeny, Maddie Montoya, Becca Tschetter, Hannah Boraas, Eva Heinz, and Scarlet Weidig all landed on the prestigious list which accounts for both academic and athletic excellence.
The Bobcats' six WGCA All-American Scholars are tied for the most in program history, equaling the six who earned recognition in 2021.
Criteria for selection to the Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. To be selected, a student-athlete must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season, and have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.
Montoya (2023), Heinz (2024), and Boraas (2024) all landed the honor for the second time in their careers.
Montana State is coming off a season which included school records for four-player scoring average (295.92), individual scoring average (Lauren Greeny, 72.64), five individual tournament wins in nine stroke play tournaments, their third-ever Big Sky champion (Maddie Montoya), and their first-ever appearance in the NCAA postseason.
