MSU blending young players and veterans
BOZEMAN, Mont. (August 1, 2025) – Montana State head football coach Brent Vigen knows that certain things in the development of a college football team won't be present during the first two days of practice. But he also understands what is important to see.
"I've been pleased with the effort and energy the first couple days," Vigen said of his fifth Bobcat team after Friday's morning practice. "And, that should be not an issue. So I think we've got a hungry group of guys."
The Cats return five starters on each side of the ball plus its starting place kicker from their 2024 Big Sky Championship team, but the team has multiple veterans at every position group. Vigen said he's impressed with the commitment he saw from his squad.
"Whether they're old or young, the players are looking to get themselves better. And that's what you see out here a group that's working hard and coaches that are coaching hard and that's got to be our starting point now. We're not quite there yet, but I've been pleased with the overall potential and our effort energy."
After Saturday morning's practice the Cats take Sunday off and resume daily sessions on Monday.
