MSU tames Blue Demons before falling to host Boise State

(March 13, 2026) – Yassin Elaroussy continued his hot streak with a clinching win at No. 1 singles as Montana State topped DePaul 4-1 in Boise on Friday afternoon.

Elaroussy's win capped a run of four straight singles victories after DePaul had taken the doubles point. "Our guys showed a lot of fight," MSU head coach Mateus Ceolin said of his team's effort against DePaul. "That was the most impressive thing."

Later in the day, Boise State swept the Cats 4-0. Both matches occurred at the Appleton Tennis Center on the BSU campus.

Against DePaul, sophomore Eddie Biss changed the match's momentum with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Tobias Leitner at No. 5 singles. Freshman Max Calaquian earned his first Division I win by defeating Augusto Pardo 6-2, 6-4, then Andre Stewart captured a 6-2, 7-5 win over Pablo Torres Almeida to push MSU withing one individual win of the team victory.

That left it to Elaroussy. The sophomore who has moved into the top spot of MSU's lineup in the last month dropped the first set 6-2 but rallied to win 6-3, 7-6 (7-6 in the tiebreaker). The win raised Montana State's record to 4-8 on the season.

Regional power Boise State made quick work of the Bobcats in Friday's late match. The Broncos took the doubles point, then won three singles matches in straight-sets. MSU's David Ismanescu was forced to retire from the match with an injury. MSU dropped to 4-9 with the loss.
