Bobcats Fall at Idaho State in Men's Tennis on Saturday

Ethan Masselis returns to the lineup with a win
(March 28, 2026) – Ethan Masselis earned a straight-set singles win in his return to the Montana State lineup, but he provided the only highlight in the Bobcats' 6-1 loss at Idaho State on Saturday.
Masseslis earned a 6-4, 6-4 win over Quentin Lamothe at No. 6 singles after missing several weeks with an injury. The freshman raised his record to 6-1 on the season, while Montana State fell to 5-10 overall, 1-2 in the Big Sky.
Idaho State started strong, taking the doubles point and then taking a 2-0 lead when MSU's Oumar Diallo retired during the first set at the third ladder position. The Bengals clinched the team win with hard-fought wins at the top two spots in the lineup. Sep De Visser beat MSU's Andre Stewart 7-6 (7-5 in the tiebreaker) before Valentin De Pellegrin's 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 win over Bobcat sophomore Yassin Elaroussy at the top spot.
Before Masselis' win, Idaho State got wins at No. 4, where Hayden Ciguenza topped Camille Chantron, and the fifth spot, where Rafael Maya beat Eddie Biss.
Montana State plays its first home matches in 60 days next weekend, hosting Northern Arizona on Friday at 1 pm and Weber State on Sunday at 10 am. Both matches are held in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.
