Cats Improve Three Program Top-10 Marks in Distance Events at Bryan Clay Invitational

Distance, throws groups set strong marks for Cats on Friday
AZUSA, Calif. --- The Montana State track & field program completed its second day of competition in Southern California on Friday, with a handful of throwers competing at the Beach Invitational while the distance squad competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Annie Kaul (800m), Sophia Miller (800m), and Madi Siana (800m) each posted top-10 times in program history in Azusa to highlight Friday's events for the Bobcats. Kaul improved her own No. 3 time, Siana moved to eighth in program history, and Miller took over the 10th spot in a strong day for the distance crew.
Kaul and Miller each etched their names in the record books in the 800m invite at the Bryan Clay Invitational, with Kaul improving her own No. 3 time and Miller posting the 10th-fastest time in program history. Kaul crossed the finish line in 2:07.47 to place 61st, and Miller posted a 2:10.57 to finish 113th. Kalei Moravitz, who ranks second in Montana State history in the event, finished 80th overall with a time of 2:08.38.
Siana finished 14th in the open A section of the 5,000m, clocking a time of 16:35.03 to shatter her personal best by over 30 seconds. She moved to eighth in program history with her time, joining Claire Rutherford as the two active Bobcats in the program top-10 in the event.
Blaise Snow finished 53rd in the 800m invite with a time of 1:49.53, finishing just 0.12 seconds shy of his No. 4 time in program history. Mario Oblad led the Cats in the open A section earlier in the day with a time of 1:50.68 for 27th place, while Jackson Fagerlin clocked a 1:51.53 for 50th place.
AJ Ringert and Harrington both competed in the open A section of the 5,000m. Ringert finished 45th with a time of 14:15.50, and Harrington posted a time of 14:17.11 for 51st place.
The Bobcats opened competition at the Beach Invitational on the campus of Long Beach State on Friday, with Easton Hatleberg providing the highlight of the meet with a personal best in the hammer throw invite. He recorded a mark of 61.08 meters/200 feet, 4 inches to finish 11th, while Matt Furdyk finished just behind in 12thplace with a mark of 60.82m/199-6. Jenavieve Lynch recorded a throw of 54.83m/179-10 to place 13th on the women's side.

The Bobcats will conclude their weekend in California at a trio of meets on Saturday. Ben Saelens will open the day for Montana State in the Bryan Clay Invitational in the open C section of the 1,500m at 9:20 a.m. MT.
Sydney Brewster, Emma Brensdal, and Jenavieve Lynch are set to compete in the discus invite to open the Beach Invitational at 11 a.m. MT, and Millie Hubbell will compete in the 100m hurdles invite to kick off the running events at 12:20 p.m. MT.
Montana State will compete in the women's 4x100m relay elite race at 1:40 p.m. MT in its first event at the Mt. SAC Relays.
