Roger W. Bay, MSU Assistant Alpine Coach for MSU Athletic Department. Started in the Fall of 2023. This is my third year coaching Alpine ski racing for MSU. It is my 40th year as an Alpine Ski Racing Coach. I worked half of my career with the Bridger Ski Foundation (off and on since '84), 1/3 of my career with the US Ski Team ('98-2005 & 2011), worked 4 years for the Park City Ski team in Utah ('89-'92) and 1 year with Team Gilboa in Minneapolis ('96). I am currently on the National Alpine Coaches Education Faculty.
My duties are to assist the Head Alpine coach with training, coaching, video and travel to and from training and racing. Our Alpine team is scored together with the Nordic Team. Our mission is to win the NCAA Championships.
I graduated from MSU in '85 with a degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology. I ski raced for the Bobcats for two years '81-'82. It was fun to watch the Bobcat Football team win NCAA Champs in '84 when I was a student and again this year as athletic staff!
I am very lucky to be using my degree and doing what I love: Coaching Alpine ski racing and helping student athletes reach their full potential. Go Cats!
