Wilson, Alan

Alan Wilson
- Induction:
- 2011
- Class:
- 1971
Befitting an offensive lineman, Alan Wilson was always willing to trade personal glory for team success.
As a Bobcat offensive lineman, Wilson stood out for his heady, physical style as a junior and senior. Long-time Bobcat Sports Information Director Ken Nicholson described him as "the team's best offensive lineman" as a senior in 1971 "just as he was as a junior."
If personal accolades didn't find Wilson as a Bobcat, they certainly did in the years after. One of the most decorated professional football players Montana State ever produced, Wilson played for the B.C. Lions from 1972-87, playing both guard and center.
An iron man, Wilson at one point played in 167 consecutive games before being felled by a knee injury. After returning from the injury, he played for four more years. During his career, Wilson earned the League's Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman award in 1977, was a seven time CFL and Divisional All-Star, and reached the pinnacle of his chosen profession helping lead his club to a pair of CFL Grey Cup Championship games. The Lions won the 1985 Championship.
After enjoying the ultimate accomplishment, the Grey Cup Championship, Wilson enjoyed his profession's top individual honor a dozen years later. On, September 20, 1997, Wilson was inducted into the CFL Hall of Fame.
