Joe McKethen
Joe McKethen was a fiery guard who gained national renown for his sharp shooting and acrobatics, both as a Bobcat guard and during a distinguished AAU career when that was the top level of basketball in country. McKethen became the fifth player in school history to pass the 1,000 point plateau, and had he played four full seasons would have approached or passed the hallowed 2,000 point mark. The Thermopolis, Wyo., native was an honorable mention All-America in 1951, and was a two-time Rocky Mountain Conference all-star. He teamed with Les Curry, himself a Wendy’s/MSU Hall of Famer, as on of the Top one-two scoring punches in the nation.
