“I’ll never forget the two free throws she made with eight seconds left to beat Montana.” – Bobcat Hall-of-Famer Ginny Hunt, MSU Women’s AD
Ginny Hunt has a lot of good memories from her two decades as Director of Women’s Intercollegiate Athletics at Montana State. Right there near the top of the list is the vision of an intense forward standing at the free throw line late in the game with the Bobcats owning a rare chance to beat Montana. “I’ll never forget the two free throws she made with eight seconds left in the win over Montana,” Hunt recalls. That moment was one of many thrills Andrew gave MSU fans during her two years at Montana State, and she left her imprint all over the MSU record book.
A native of Brantford, Ontario, Andrew joined the MSU program in 1986 and led the ‘Cats to a 16-12 overall mark. She garnered All-Mountain West first team honors in her rookie season, as well. Andrew’s senior season in Bozeman proved to be one of the finest ever produced by a Bobcat athlete. She led the ‘Cats to a school-record 26-4 overall mark and a trip to the WNIT. MSU also received its first-ever national ranking during the 1987-88 campaign. She averaged as school-record 21.5 points a game, while shooting a single-season record 57 percent from the floor. Andrew finished her career with 1,050 points, 10th best at MSU in just two seasons. She was a Kodak District VII All-America Honorable Mention and two-time All Mountain West choice.
