“(Sarah Flock is) the type of athlete when the term ‘all-around’ comes up, you think of her.” –A Bozeman sportscaster
Simply put, Sarah Flock is the best all-around player in the history of Montana State women’s basketball. The Belgrade High graduate could do it all. At one time, she was ranked third in the nation in three-point field goal percentage, and could also play in the low blocks. On any possession, she could post up, the slide outside and either bury a three or drive past her defender.
For her sensational all-around play, Flock was named Kodak All-America honorable mention in 1992. She became the first player in school history to earn First Team All-Big Sky honors three times. She is also the only player in Bobcat history to be named team MVP three times.
As a junior, flock was named one of 12 nominees for the Division I Player of the Year Award by Champion USA and the Womens’ Basketball Coaches Association. She was also named MSU’s Big Sky Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Decade.
Flock remains fourth on MSU’s all-time scoring average, field goals, field goal attempts, free throws, free throw percentage, assists, steals, blocks, three-pointers, and three-point percentage.
