“If you wanted a guy to take the big shot, Tommy would do it. He was a big guy that could shoot bombs.” –Former Voice of the ‘Cats Dean Alexander
Tom Domako’s reputation as a sensational shooter was well-deserved. During his four seasons as a standout forward on the Bobcat basketball team, he scored 1,841 points, third-best in school history. His 667 points in 1988 is the most a Bobcat has scored in one season. He is also among MSU’s all-time leaders in three-pointers, three-point percentage, and shooting percentage.
But don’t let the numbers fool you. Tom Domako was anything but a one-dimensional player. He is among Montana State’s all-time leaders in rebounds, steals, assists, and free throws, and his 118 career games played is third in school history.
Domako remains one of the most decorated players in Bobcat history. The Livonia, Mich., native was named Big Sky Most Valuable Player in 1988, and that year was also named to the league’s Silver Anniversary Team as one of the top Big Sky players up to that point.
“Tom Domako was a big guy, but he played on the perimeter, so he created a lot of problems for teams that we played,” said current Bobcat coach Mick Durham, an assistant during Domako’s tenure. “He was a very effective player.”
