Bobcat Spikers Host Sacramento State, Portland State - DIG PINK

Both matches will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday’s match against the Vikings is MSU’s designated ‘Dig Pink’ event in conjunction with the Side-Out Foundation. The Side-Out Foundation is a support and advocacy organization dedicated to making a significant and identifiable difference in the lives of breast cancer patients and their families by supporting clinical trials, increasing patient support services and educating communities
HOME SWEET HOME & DIG PINK:
After playing its last four matches on the road, the Montana State volleyball team returns to the warm confines of Shroyer Gym for a pair of Big Sky Conference North Division matches. MSU will open weekend play on Friday, Oct. 24 against Sacramento State, and will finish with Portland State on Saturday, Oct. 25. Both matches will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday's match against the Vikings is MSU's designated 'Dig Pink' event in conjunction with the Side-Out Foundation. The Side-Out Foundation is a support and advocacy organization dedicated to making a significant and identifiable difference in the lives of breast cancer patients and their families by supporting clinical trials, increasing patient support services and educating communities.
'CAT CHAT:
The Bobcats dropped two matches on the road last weekend. MSU opened with a 25-9, 25-23, 25-18 loss at Eastern Washington. Sophomore Kennadie Clute led MSU with a match-high 15 kills, while Kasey Schlatter paced the Bobcats defensively with 11 digs. On Saturday, Montana State was swept in three straight sets - 25-10, 25-13, 25-21 to Big Sky newcomer Idaho. Clute, Loni Kreun and Natalee Godfrey each had seven kills, while Kreun added 16 digs and Schlatter 15. Freshman Jolie Meade posted a team-best three blocks.
SCOUTING THE HORNETS & VIKINGS:
Sacramento State (5-18, 0-8) The Hornets will be looking for its first Big Sky Conference this weekend in the Treasure State. Sacramento State sits at the bottom of the BSC South Division and has dropped eight consecutive matches. The Hornets are led by Sloan Lovett, who averages 3.19 kills and 1.13 digs per set. Portland State (6-14, 4-4) will face Montana on Friday night, before making the trip down I-90 to Bozeman. The Vikings struggled early in the season, but has found its groove, lately. PSU has won three-of-its-last-four matches', including wins over Idaho, Eastern Washington and Sacramento State. Portland State is paced by Cheyne Corrado, who averages 3.32 kills and 2.24 dps.
BITS AND PIECES:
True-freshman Jolie Meade has been a nice surprise for the Bobcats this season. The native of Rocklin, California is tops on the Bobcat squad hitting .332 from the field. The mark also ranks 127th in the nation and is the 13th best attack mark in the nation by a first-year player...In Big Sky Conference action, sophomore Kennadie Clute is ranked fourth in the league, averaging 3.52 kills per set and ninth in points at 3.62...Natalee Godfrey ranks fourth in Big Sky hitting percentage at .356...setter Katie Harrington is fifth in the league averaging 10.65 assists per set...libero Kasey Schlatter is fourth in the Big Sky at 4.54 dpg.
NOTICING NATALEE:
Junior middle blocker Natalee Godfrey has bounced back nicely from an early season injury to post an outstanding October, to date. In fact, Godfrey has only committed seven hitting errors in her last 80 swings. For the month, the Eugene, Oregon product is averaging 2.83 kills per set, while hitting a whopping .378 from the field. Godfrey had a season-high 13 kills against Northern Arizona two weeks ago.
ELI-CTRIFYING:

DIGGING IT:
Kasey Schlatter is currently first on the team averaging 4.03 digs per contest. The Canby, Oregon native has totaled 278 saves this fall, including being in double-digit digs in 16 of MSU's 20 matches. Schlatter posted a career-high 36 saves against Canisius on Sept. 5. That mark was two shy of the all-time Bobcat record of 38 held by Kandice Kelly and Meghan Albiston. For her career, Schlatter has logged 942 digs, which is ninth on the all-time Montana State digs list.
