11/13/2014 10:18:00 PM | Women's Volleyball
“I told them at intermission that it was up to them to get over the hump and get back to being mentally sound,” MSU Head Coach Kyle Weindel said. “They knew they needed to put back-to-back sets together after laying an egg in the second set. I’m proud with the way they responded.”
Montana State senior Kasey Schlatter recorded a match-high 21 digs, while senior Zoe Gogan ceremoniously served the first point of the game, and the two Bobcat players competing in their final match in Shroyer Gym parlayed the energy into a 25-15, 19-25, 25-16, 25-16 win over Weber State, Thursday night.
Gogan, who suffered a season-ending knee injury a week ago at North Dakota, got Montana State (6-21, 3-12) on the board first, before being substituted out on the next play. The Bobcats built the margin to 17-12 on a Kennadie Clute kill and closed out the set following a Weber State (7-23, 3-12) hitting error.
The Wildcats turned the table in the second stanza, cruising to a 17-9 advantage and evened the score at one-all on a Megan Thompson kill.

Weber State held a 9-5 lead in the third set, before the Bobcats rattled off a 10-1 run to stake a 15-10 cushion. MSU took a 2-1 lead in the match following a Natalee Godfrey kill.
In the final set, MSU used a 12-4 run at the midway point and won the match on a solo block via freshman middle blocker Jolie Meade.
Godfrey paced the Bobcats with a match-high 15 kills, while Clute added 13 winners. Setter Katie Harrington dished out 43 assists in the victory.
In addition, MSU had one of its best blocking nights owning a 13-11 advantage over the Wildcats. Meade finished with a career-high eight blocks, while Loni Kreun also posted a career-best with seven blocks.
"We've worked hard on our blocking over the past few weeks," Weindel said. "It's nice to see that hard work payoff."
For the match, MSU out-hit WSU .222 to .026 and held advantages in kills, assists and digs.
The Bobcats will conclude its season with the Brawl of the Wild match - presented by Town and Pump - at Montana on Saturday night.
