Glockner, Hough Pace Bobcats at Montana Invitational

The Bobcat women and men finish fourth and fifth, respectively, with half of its roster competing in Missoula on Friday
MISSOULA, Mont. – Montana State cross country made its weekend debut with a portion of its squad competing at the Montana Invitational on Friday, Sept. 28, at the University of Montana Golf Course. The Bobcat women and men placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the team standings.
Freshman Kathleen Glockner was the MSU women's team's top finisher Friday. Glockner earned her first top-10 collegiate finish by taking 10th with a time of 19 minutes, 2.10 seconds in the women's 5-kilometer race.
Ellen Brooks, Joby Rosenleaf, Sierra Tucker and Jaycie Schmalz helped set the Bobcat scoring lineup.
Brooks took 20th overall by crossing the line in 19:21.30. She was followed closely by Rosenleaf (19:26.50) and Tucker (19:32.60) who finished 24th and 27th, respectively. Schmalz rounded out the team's fifth-fastest score by taking 54th in a time of 20:23.10.
Molly MacDonald finished 57th overall in a time of 20:30.30 and Lexi Kyro took 73rd with a mark of 21:03.10 as part of the women's squad's seven competitors.
The MSU women finished fourth in the standings with 128 points as a team. Idaho placed first with 20 points as the first three individual finishers were Vandals. Host Montana placed second with 54 points and Santa Clara took third with 103. The Bobcats topped Pacific, Gonzaga and Eastern Washington in the Division I field.
The MSU men's team had five competing in Missoula on Friday.
Sophomore Brandon Hough crossed the line in 26:10.00 to lead the Bobcats by placing 29th overall in men's 8K race. Anthony Schmalz finished behind Hough by taking 31st in a time of 26:22.60.
Gannon Chamberlain, Logan Morley and Justice Lamer rounded out the Bobcats' top five. Chamberlain finished 49th by crossing the line in 27:03.80, Morley took 50th registering a mark of 27:07.60 and Lamer placed 58th with a mark of 27:19.90.
MSU's men's team placed fifth with 142 points. Gonzaga took all top seven spots individually for a team total of 15 points. The Bulldogs topped the remaining Division I field consisting of Idaho (54), Eastern Washington (105) and Montana (117).
Fourteen other Bobcat cross country runners await to compete this weekend. MSU cross country's other half of its roster is set to participate in the Roy Griak Invitational beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday in Falcon Heights, Minn.
