GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Junior Kameryn Basye completed a strong tournament showing as the Montana State women's golf team wrapped up the Bobcat Desert Classic on Tuesday, April 13, at the Golf Club of Estrella.
Basye fired her best 18-hole round of her college career by shooting a 1-under-par 71. Her second round was highlighted by four birdies. The Bozeman native finished the meet with a 1-over 145 which tied the program record for the lowest individual 36-hole tournament score with Jaylee Tait set in 2017. Basye's combined seven birdies over two days was among the fifth most during the event.
The Bobcats completed their second best 18-hole round of the season as a team by recording 309 strokes on Tuesday. MSU finished the 36-hole meet with a total of 623 (314-309).
Seattle's Samantha Bruce narrowly claimed individual medalist honors ahead of Gonzaga's Quynn Duong. Bruce fired back-to-back rounds of 3-under 69 to finish a stroke ahead of Duong. Gonzaga claimed the team champion honors as the Bulldogs registered a 572 over 36 holes.
Hannah Rosanova had the Bobcats' second-best score of the second round with her 5-over 77. Annika Danenhauer registered an 80, Sofia Rodriguez Todd carded an 81 and Hailey Oster shot an 85.
Basye claimed her first top 10-finish as a Bobcat by tying for ninth overall. Danenhauer tied for 51st, Rosanova earned 60th, Rodriguez Todd finished in a tie for 66th place and Oster placed 69th.
"Kameryn had a good couple of days," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "She played consistent and made some good birdies, so super proud. Hannah found a way to play in the 70s and she continues to improve.
"We have a couple days to think about our play and learn from the last three tournaments before we leave for conference. We'll need four solid scores to be competitive at the Big Sky tournament!"
Montana State looks ahead to its final tournament of the season. The Bobcats will travel to Molalla, Oregon, to participate in the Big Sky Conference Championship beginning on Monday, April 19.
