Women’s Golf Adds Morgan Ryan as Assistant Coach

Ryan to assist Bobcat women’s golf team starting with the 2026-27 season
BOZEMAN, Mont. --- The Montana State women's golf program announced the addition of Morgan Ryan to its coaching staff, head coach Brittany Basye announced on Monday.
Ryan will serve as an assistant coach for the Bobcats, joining Basye in coaching Montana State starting with the 2026-27 campaign.
"We're really excited to have Morgan join our program," Basye said. "She had a successful playing career at the University of Wyoming and competed at a high level throughout her time there. Having so recently been a college golfer herself, she understands what our players are going through and can relate to them in a way that will be incredibly valuable. She also has experience playing many of the golf courses we will compete on, so she brings a current perspective and a strong understanding of the competitive side of college golf.
"Morgan also brings strong organizational and communication skills. She's personable, outgoing, and has a natural ability to connect with people. I believe Morgan has the skill set and initiative to make an immediate impact in all areas of our program and Bobcat Athletics and will help the growth of Bobcat Golf.
"Most importantly, Morgan fits the culture we've worked hard to create here at Montana State. Over the last few years, our program has made tremendous strides, and we want to continue moving in that direction. Morgan will be a big part of that. I'm excited to have her join our Bobcat family and help us continue building on what we've created."
Ryan played collegiate golf at the University of Wyoming from 2019 to 2024, where she was a two-time team captain during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. Ryan excelled during her time as a Cowgirl, winning the Wyoming State Golf Association Women's Amateur Championship in 2020, finishing runner-up at the Colorado Golf Association Women's Amateur Championship in 2022, and becoming the Wyoming State Golf Association Women's Match Play champion in 2023. Ryan concluded her Cowgirl career with the second-lowest career scoring average in program history, earning the Gilroy Award in 2024 as the team MVP for excellence, leadership, and competition. A two-time Mountain West Academic All-Conference honoree, Ryan was named a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Academic All-American Scholar in 2020. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies, Governance & Conflict Resolution and a Venture MBA from the University of Wyoming.
Following her playing career, Ryan joined the Wyoming staff as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2024-25 season, where she assisted with practice planning, player development, and competitive preparation for the Cowgirl women's golf team. She also served as an A-ranked caddie at the Colorado Golf Club from 2021 to 2024, working with amateur and professional golfers while still competing at Wyoming. Her role at Montana State, which she began on Aug. 10, marks her first full-time coaching position.
