Bobcats Ready to Take Stage at West Preliminary Rounds

Montana State opens competition at the NCAA Division I West Preliminary Rounds Wednesday in Fayetteville, Ark., at the University of Arkansas’ John McDonnell Field
Montana State opens competition at the NCAA Division I West Preliminary Rounds Wednesday in Fayetteville, Ark., at the University of Arkansas' John McDonnell Field.
The Bobcats will have 17 participants competing across every discipline over the four-day span of the meet. MSU men's javelin throwers Cantor Coverdell and Cooper Hoffman will be the first Bobcats to appear at the west regional meet as the event starts at 1 p.m. MT. The Bobcats will also have Derrick Olsen, Colby Wilson, Alec Nehring, Chris Bianchini and Drake Schneider compete that evening, while Matthew Richtman closes out the first day schedule running in the 10,000-meter run at 8:10 p.m. MT.
Thursday's event schedule features four Bobcat women. Angellica Street will throw in the 1 p.m. javelin field. Elena Carter and Morgan Evans will each run in the first round of 100 hurdles that start at 5 p.m. MT. Carter will add appearances in the 100 dash and long jump which are slated to begin an hour after her 100 hurdles showing. Alex Hellenberg is set to make her regional debut in the pole vault at 5:30 p.m. MT.
Friday's competition slate will have four Bobcat men's athletes along with possible quarterfinal qualifiers depending on race showings on Wednesday. Duncan Hamilton and Levi Taylor are each slotted to run in the first flight of the men's 3,000 steeplechase that begins at 4:40 p.m. MT. Ian Fosdick will be part of the triple jump at 5 p.m. MT and Ben Perrin is scheduled for a 7:10 p.m. MT start in the 5,000.
The preliminary rounds close Saturday with two Bobcats in field events. Lucy Corbett will look to advance to her second NCAA Outdoor Championships in the high jump with the group starting competition at 1:30 p.m. MT. Hellenberg returns to the facility for a showing in the triple jump beginning at 5 p.m. MT.
The NCAA West Preliminary competition takes place in Fayetteville, Arkansas, from May 25-28. A stream will be available on SEC Network+ (access via ESPN+) but won't be available until 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday as well as 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
