Bekkestad, a senior from Aal, Norway, recorded the second fastest second run to move from tenth to fourth in the final standings.
Three-time Montana State All-American Kristiane Bekkestad paced the Montana State ski team finishing fourth in giant slalom as the 75th RMISA Championships opened on Friday at Big Sky Resort.
Bekkestad, a senior from Aal, Norway, recorded the second fastest second run to move from tenth to fourth in the final standings. She posted a two-run total of 1:54.87. Colorado's Denise Dingsleder won the event in 1:53.40.
Also scoring points for the Bobcats were Nellie Talbot, 14th, 1:56.14, and Lana Zbasnik, 17th, 1:56.37. Ylva Falksete, 21st, 1:56.96, and Brynne Hitchcock, 30th, 1:58.72 also registered times for MSU.
The Bobcat men were led by a trio of skiers who were separated by just .18-seconds. Junior Isak Staurset led the contingent placing ninth with a two-run total of 1:53.83. His opening run of 57.12 was the fifth fastest of the heat. Jamie Casselman, tenth, 1:53.96, and Gianluca Boehm, 11th, 1:54.01 followed Staurset. Casselman, a senior from Cranbrook, B.C., tallied the fourth fastest (56.13) second run.
Also posting time for MSU were Tanner Perkins, 16th, 1:54.52, Henry Heaydon, 19th, 1:54.88, and Dawson Yates, 41st, 1:57.96.

After two events, Denver sits atop the team standings with 171 points. The Pioneers are followed by CU 164, UU 147, MSU 132, Westminster 114, Alaska Anchorage 78, Colorado Mountain 64, and Nevada 62.
Alpine competition concludes on Saturday with slalom at Big Sky, while Nordic gets underway with the 7.5km freestyle races at Crosscut Mountain Sports Center beginning at 11 a.m.
