The win also placed the Carbondale, Colo., product on top of the podium as part of the University of Alaska Anchorage Invitational, running in conjunction with the national event.
Montana State senior Kate Oldham picked up where she left off last winter, capturing the women's 10K freestyle title at the 2025 U.S. National Cross Country Ski Championships at Kincaid Park, Thursday afternoon.
The win also placed the Carbondale, Colo., product on top of the podium as part of the University of Alaska Anchorage Invitational, running in conjunction with the national event.
Oldham, who was a First Team All-American at last year's NCAA meet after placing fifth in freestyle, finished the 10K course in 24 minutes, 29.8 seconds.
"I just spent three weeks training alone," Oldham told the Anchorage Daily News. "I don't have a lot of context for what I'm expecting. It was a little nerve-wracking, but it was part of the plan to show up in Anchorage with the fitness I had and it turns out it was pretty good."
The Bobcat women totaled 73 points on the opening day of the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association's circuit. Also scoring points for MSU were Katey Houser, 16th, 26:29.5, and Anna Pryce, 19th, 26:47.5.

The Nordic classic events will take place on Sunday at Kincaid Park, with the alpine portion of the UAA Invitational slated for Feb. 19-21.
