Pryce Runner Up in Class Sprints at UAF Invitational

In the final heat of six racers, Pryce finished second in a time of 3:15.86, placing behind Utah’s Erica Laven who clocked 3:11.82 in the finals.
Montana State senior Anna Pryce put together four outstanding races in the classic sprints on Sunday as the University of Alaska Fairbanks Invitational got under way at the Competition trails on the UAF campus.
Pryce, a product of Canmore, Alberta, Canada, recorded a 3:15.47 qualifying time, followed by a clocking of 3:21.09 in the quarterfinal heat. Pryce was the only Bobcat to advance to the semifinal heat, where she registered a time of 3:16.95, to advance to the finals. In the final heat of six racers, Pryce finished second in a time of 3:15.86, placing behind Utah's Erica Laven who clocked 3:11.82 in the finals.
Also, scoring points for the Bobcats were Maeve MacLeod, 16th, (3:27.35 Q; 3:25.30 QF), and Katey Houser, 21st, (3:23.89 Q; 3:32.20 QF).
The Bobcat men were paced by Phineas Fischer, who placed 18th, after rattling off a 2:48.33 quarterfinal mark. He was followed by Grey Barbier, 19th, (2:51.28 Q; 2:51.14 QF), and Joel Power, 20th, (2:53.96 Q; 2:51.54 QF).
Denver leads the UAF Invite after the opening day with 182 points, followed by Utah 154, Alaska Anchorage 143, Colorado 125, UAF 122, and MSU 116.
The 10K Freestyle races take place on Monday.
