Bobcats to honor a trio of seniors following the meet
BOZEMAN, Mont. --- Montana State track & field concludes its indoor regular season at the Kennedy-Stark Athletic Center on Thursday, hosting the Big Sky Tuner in Bozeman as the Bobcats make their final preparations for the Big Sky Indoor Championships on Feb. 26-28.
The one-day, two-team meet is set to begin at 4 p.m. with the men's pole vault, women's weight throw, and men's long jump while the running events will start at 5 p.m. with the women's 60-meter hurdles. Thursday's meet will mark the fourth and final home meet in the Kennedy-Stark Athletic Center's inaugural season.
Montana State's three seniors exhausting their collegiate eligibility following the indoor season will be honored following the conclusion of the meet. Those Bobcats include Destiny Nkeonye, Nicola Paletti, and Tamia Ramos
Live Results from the Big Sky Tuner will be available here. The meet will not be live streamed.
"The Big Sky Tuner will have very limited entries and will be a quick meet," Dale Kennedy Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Lyle Weese said. "The field events will be completed in about two hours, and the running events will be finished in under 90 minutes. The Montana State University throwers and distance runners will be competing in their entirety. The vast majority of the jumpers and sprinters will not be competing. So, this meet will certainly have a focus and highlight the throwers and distance runners. Events to watch will be the weight throw, shot put, 800 meters, and mile.
"The distance runners and throwers will be looking to take advantage of one last opportunity to put up big marks and build momentum heading into the conference championships next week. We will also honor three individuals who are exhausting their NCAA Eligibility during a short senior recognition. These individuals include Tamia Ramos, Destiny Nkeonye, and Nicola Paletti. A special event taking place is the Faculty and Staff Mile. Over 30 individuals from the university will run for campus-wide bragging rights."
The Competition: The Big Sky Tuner will feature Montana State and the University of Providence in a short meet allowing the Bobcats one more opportunity to compete ahead of next week's Big Sky Indoor Championships.
