Lola Bean wins at No. 6 singles to lead Montana State on Sunday
PULLMAN, Wash. – The Montana State women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Washington State on Sunday evening to wrap up a two-match weekend road trip.
Lola Bean earned the Bobcats' lone point of the day in a 6-4, 6-4 sweep of Zali Morris. The Cougars improved to 5-3 while the Bobcats moved to 3-5 with the loss.
"That was a good fight from this group against a tough team," Montana State head coach Hailey Barrett said. "I'm so proud of Lola for trusting her tennis and winning a great match. We'll get back to Bozeman and get to work to prepare for Sacramento State next weekend."
The Cougars took the doubles point as Maxine Murphy and Chisato Kanemaki defeated Terezie Stverakova and Anna Wise, 6-1 on court one. They then clinched the doubles point as Yura Nakagawa and Morris topped Kavya Khirwar and Lola Bean, 6-3. Washington State's Eva Alvarez Sande and Ava-Monet Sycamore led Angel Bean and Nia Gelashvili, 5-2, at No. 2 doubles before the match went unfinished following the Cougars' clinch.
