Myles Sansted Named to Fred Mitchell Award Preseason Watch List

History-making 2025 season boosts MSU kicker onto preseason honors list
BOZEMAN, Mont. (Aug. 11, 2026) – Montana State fifth-year Myles Sansted was named to the Fred Mitchell Award Preseason Watch List, honoring college football's top kickers below the FBS level.
Sansted's 254 points as a Bobcat is fourth-most in MSU history, and his 32 made field goals is sixth. He ended the 2025 season by calmly converting the extra point in overtime in the FCS Championship Game to boost the Cats to their first title in 41 years, and his 7.9 points per game in 2025 was 21st in the FCS. His .810 field goal percentage was 26th. He was named MSU's Jan Stenerud Kick Teams MVP, and he is a preseason All-America choice this season.
The Fred Mitchell Award is presented annually to an outstanding place-kicker competing at the FCS, Division II, Division III, NAIA, or JUCO level based on excellence on the football field and in the community. The award honors Fred Mitchell's distinguished football career and lifelong commitment to community service.
