Women's Tennis Starts Strong at Idaho State Invitational

CHUBBUCK, Idaho - The Montana State women's tennis team wrapped up a weekend of play at the Idaho State Invitational on Sunday, earning several individual victories to contribute a successful team showing in the fall opener.Â
After earning wins in the dominant doubles format, Lola Bean and Stela Sifuentes won the Black Draw, while Terezie Stverakova and Lola House were champions of the Bengal Draw.Â
"This weekend was a very strong start for our team," head coach Hailey Barrett said. "Idaho State, Utah Tech, and Montana are all tough conference opponents and we had some great battles. We're so proud of the fight our players showed in every match. Stela, Lola House, Mia, and Naomi all earned their first wins as Bobcats, and we're looking forward to many more in the future."Â
In doubles play, Lola Bean and Stela Sifuentes went 3-0, collecting a trio of wins in their first weekend as partners. Stverakova and House collected a pair of wins. While Angel Bean and Naomi Jin defeated a Montana duo on Saturday.Â
On the singles side of the lineup, Stverakova went undefeated, picking up a singles win each day. Veterans Angel Bean and Lola Bean each collected a pair of wins.
The new Bobcats also had a strong showing on the solo court, as House went undefeated as well. Sifuentes and Tombari notched a pair of victories, while Jin snagged her first win as well.Â
Montana State returns to the court on Friday, Oct. 2, for the Big Sky Individual Championships in Ogden, Utah.Â
