Benito Cecenas joined Montana State University Athletics in July of 2025 as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Cecenas comes to the Bobcats after two years at the University of Minnesota where he served as an Assistant Director of Athletic Performance and oversaw performance related programming for the Gopher Soccer and Men’s Swim teams. Prior to Minnesota, Cecenas served as a Graduate Assistant Performance Coach at the University of Montana. Before UM, he worked as an Assistant Performance Coach at the University of Vermont. Prior to this role at Vermont, he was at William Woods University where he served as a Graduate Assistant Performance Coach.
Cecenas earned a BS in Exercise and Movement Sciences in 2018 from the University of Vermont. This is also where he started his coaching journey, serving as an intern and then coaching assistant with the Catamounts’ Athletic Performance department. He has also earned an MEd in Athletic Administration at William Woods University (2021) and an MS in Health and Human Performance from the University of Montana (2023).
Cecenas is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is also a Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS) through the NSCA and holds a level 1 certification from the USA Weightlifting federation.
