Marcus Monaco earned the elevated role of Special Teams Coordinator and Director of Football Video at Montana State in 2025, and as he begins his sixth season with the Bobcats he is established as one of the top special teams coordinators in the FCS. Punt returner Taco Dowler earned All-America honors and the Cats blocked two kicks in the FCS Championship Game to propel the team to its first national title in 41 years, but the Anaconda native's impact on the program extends far beyond the field. He has handled the team's video operations for two seasons, including the technological and infrastructure aspect, and worked as defensive quality control assistant in 2022, as an offensive assistant in 2023, and as Special Teams Quality Control in 2024. Monaco graduated from Anaconda High in 2013, from UM Western with a Health and Human Performance degree in 2018, and from the University of Washington with a Master’s in Education, Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership in 2019. After working as a grad student intern tight ends/special teams assistant coach at Navarro College (Corsicana, Texas) in 2018, Monaco was a special teams analyst at the University of Arkansas in 2019, and was special teams coordinator and tight ends coach at East Texas Baptist in 2020-21 before joining the Bobcats. Working with MSU’s specialists, the Cats finished fourth in the FCS in net punting and sophomore kicker Myles Sansted finished among the nation’s top 25 in field goal percentage and scoring in both 2024 and 2025.
