Worthington Arena
Worthington Arena
In 1956, Montana State University's Brick Breeden Fieldhouse/Worthington Arena opened as the premiere college basketball and all-purpose facility in the Northwest. The MSU Fieldhouse, as it was then known, was the largest domed structure in the western hemisphere without a center support. Nearly a half-century and the largest facility renovation project in school history later, MSU's home basketball arena remains one of the finest around.
Known for large, enthusiastic crowd throughout its history, Bobcat basketball teams have garnered local attention for success in Worthington Arena in recent years. One note of success includes the women's team's recent 31-game home court win streak that spanned from the 2015-16 season to the 2017-18 slate. It was the second longest active streak in the nation at the time and is the longest in school history.
With a capacity of 6,772 spectators for basketball games, Worthington Arena saw its first sell out in over a decade when the Bobcat men's basketball hosted rival Montana in February of 2017. The men's team has had two consecutive years with sellouts thanks to their contest against the Griz in 2018. MSU's men's attendance is among the best in the Big Sky Conference, with almost 3,000 people attending each game during the 2017-18 season.
The women's basketball team ranks among the top 60 in the nation in attendance and continues to climb the charts after a record-setting year during the 2017-18 season. The Bobcats averaged just shy of 2,400 fans per game during the campaign, which included over 4,000 fans in a victory over Montana and over 6,000 fans at MSU's inaugural School Day game against Wyoming on Nov. 29.
Elgin Baylor, John Stockton and Kevin Johnson are among the great players that have played in the Fieldhouse.
