
Jed Miller, Caroline Hawkes Recognized as Montana State’s Big Sky Scholar Athletes

Seniors conclude their Bobcat careers with conference honor
BOZEMAN, Mont. – Montana State men's basketball's Jed Miller and women's track & field's Caroline Hawkes were selected as Montana State's 2025-26 Big Sky Scholar Athletes, the conference office announced on Thursday.
The Big Sky Scholar Athlete award is given annually to one male and one female student-athlete from each Big Sky institution, recognizing their accomplishments throughout their academic and athletic career. To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must have exhausted their intercollegiate athletic eligibility and/or be a member of the graduating class, earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2, been a participant in a Big Sky-sponsored sport, completed at least two years of intercollegiate competition at the institution, and been a letterwinner.
Miller graduated this spring with a 3.84 cumulative GPA in Business Marketing following a breakout senior season on the basketball court. A four-year competitor with 103 games of experience for the Bobcat men's basketball team, Miller played in and started all 32 games for the Bobcats during the 2025-26 season and was unanimously named First-Team All-Big Sky after leading Montana State in nearly every statistical category. Miller averaged 14.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.6 steals in a team-high 34.5 minutes per game as a senior to lead the Cats to a second-place finish in the Big Sky regular-season standings. He was a member of the Bobcats' Big Sky title-winning teams in 2022-23 and 2023-24 and competed in back-to-back NCAA Tournaments as a freshman and sophomore.
Hawkes graduated in the spring with a 3.89 cumulative GPA in Food and Nutrition Science, finishing her collegiate career as one of the most decorated sprinters in program history. She rewrote a combined six school records during the 2025-26 indoor and outdoor seasons and swept the Big Sky indoor and outdoor titles in the 400-meter dash and the 4x400m relay as a senior. A two-time Honorable Mention All-American in the 4x400m relay outdoors, Hawkes compiled four Big Sky titles, 16 all-conference honors, three NCAA West Regional appearances, two qualifications for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, 18 appearances on Montana State's all-time top-10 lists, and 11 Big Sky all-time top-10 marks, including a conference record in the indoor 4x400m relay. She is the school record holder in the outdoor 200m, indoor and outdoor 400m, outdoor 4x100m, and indoor and outdoor 4x400m.
