
Idaho State Trips Bobcat Women in Overtime

Playing the second part of back-to-back games, the Montana State women’s basketball squad ran out of gas in overtime as Idaho State opened its Big Sky season with a 77-73 victory, Saturday night in Worthington Arena.

“It came down to possessions,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “We had 21 turnovers and gave up 16 offensive boards. In addition, our execution wasn't crisp.
The two teams traded advantages and MSU took its largest lead of the period at 34-30 on a Rachel Semansky layup. The Bengals rallied with five unanswered points to stake a 35-34 lead at intermission.
In the second stanza,
An Erica Perry layup with 22-seconds left tied the score and forced the extra period.
In overtime, MSU scored first on a Semansky free throw and the lead changed hands four times over the next two minutes until a pair of Chelsea Pickering free throws with 2:10 remaining gave ISU the lead for good at 73-72.
A pair of Andrea Videbeck charity tosses with one-second left secured the ISU victory.
MSU was led in the loss by Perry with 24 points, connecting on nine-of-21 from the floor. The only other Bobcat to reach double-digits was freshman Ashley Albert with 12 points on five-of-seven shooting in 15 minutes of action.
For the game, MSU shot 38 percent from the field, while ISU hit at a 40 percent clip. The Bengals also committed eight fewer turnovers.
Iacovita and Pickering guided the Bengals with 31 and 24 points, respectively.
