The Montana State women's basketball squad shot 28 percent from the field- its lowest total in Big Sky Conference play- and suffered numerous scoring droughts, en route to a 64-46 loss at Northern Colorado, Thursday night.
“It was one of those games where no one was making shots,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “We were in a funk. We'll regroup and look for the scoring balance that has defined us this season.”
With the game tied at 21-all, Northern Colorado (14-10, 9-2) reeled off a 9-4 run to enter intermission with a 30-25 advantage.
Montana State (14-10, 8-2) went scoreless over the last 1:41 of the first half and carried the drought for three-minutes, seven-seconds to open the second stanza as the Bears pushed the lead to eight points.
UNC built the lead to 17 points, before back-to-back three-pointers by Katie Bussey reduced the margin to 51-43 with 2:13 remaining. MSU would get no closer.
Rachel Semansky led three Bobcats in double-figures with 12 points, followed by Sarah Balian and Lyndi Seidensticker with 10 apiece.
Northern Colorado held a 37-28 advantage under the glass. MSU was paced by Balian with a team-high eight rebounds.
UNC was guided by D'shara Strange with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
MSU will play at Sacramento State on Saturday afternoon.
