The Montana State volleyball team will head back on the Big Sky Conference road later this week when they travel to Sacramento State on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 8 p.m. (MST). Following its match with the Hornets, the Bobcats will fly into Missoula, where it will face intra-state rival Montana on Monday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.

LOGGING THE MILES:
The Montana State volleyball team will head back on the Big Sky Conference road later this week when they travel to Sacramento State on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 8 p.m. (MST). Following its match with the Hornets, the Bobcats will fly into Missoula, where it will face intra-state rival Montana on Monday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. The two road matches will mark the midway point of the Big Sky season, which has seen MSU play six of 10 matches away from Shroyer Gym. Montana State will remain on the road for matches on Oct. 24 & 26, before returning home to close out the year with six of eight matches on the Shroyer Gym hardwood.
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR:
Montana State outside hitter Kennadie Clute is not only establishing herself as one of the top freshman in the Big Sky this fall, but she is also one of the best in the country, as well. The Bobcat rookie ranks first in the nation (for freshmen) and the league averaging 4.26 kills per set, which ranks 24th overall at the NCAA Division I level. The Spokane native is first in the Big Sky in points per game at 4.81, which is the second best mark for a first-year player in D-I.
HOW 'BOUT THEM 'CATS:
Montana State is riding a three-match Big Sky winning streak, its longest in regular-season league action since putting three together in mid-October of 2004. During its current winning streak MSU's offense has exploded, averaging 15.17 kills and 14.83 assists per set, while hitting .221 from the field. In addition, the Bobcats are chipping in 1.08 aces, 13.33 digs and 2.58 blocks per set. Four individuals - Kennadie Clute, Loni Kreun, Natalee Godfrey and Eli Svisco - are all averaging over 2.00 kills per set. Freshman setter Anna Sykora is fourth in the nation for rookies, averaging 10.70 assists per game, while senior libero Nicole Baker is ranked 68th in the country serving up .37 aces per set.
SCOUTING THE HORNETS:
Sacramento State (9-10, 4-4) is a game ahead of MSU in the standings and will play Montana on Friday, before facing the Bobcats. The Hornets have won four of its last six BSC matches. SAC is led by Sloan Lovett at 3.40 kills per set.
FAB FROSH, PART I:
Kennadie Clute, a 6-1 outside hitter from Spokane, continues to be Montana State's top offensive threat, racking up a Big Sky best 351 points in the first 19 matches. In addition, Clute has been in double-figure kills in all 19 matches. She is ranked first in the league averaging 4.26 kills per set and her 31 kills against Northern Arizona is the top mark in the Big Sky, as well.
GOOD GODFREY:
Sophomore Natalee Godfrey put together a solid season for the Bobcats to date, hitting a team-best .294 from the field, while averaging 2.10 kills and .88 blocks per set. Last weekend, she averaged 3.44 kills and 1.44 blocks per set.
FAB FROSH, PART II:
Freshman Anna Sykora continued her hot-hand. The 5-11 setter from Rapid City, SD, dished out 121 assists last weekend and is averaging 11.22 assists per set. The mark is 3rd best in Big Sky play. Sykora also averages 1.62 dps.
THE BUTCHER, THE BAKER, THE DIG-MAKER:
Senior libero Nicole Baker averaged 4.78 digs per set last weekend and ranks 8th in the Big Sky. She is 2nd in aces.
FAB FROSH, PART III:
Freshman outside hitter Loni Kreun is averaging 3.12 kills per set, which is sixth in the Big Sky Conference. Kreun is second on the team with 253.5 points scored. In addition, she is second on the squad, averaging 2.36 digs per set. Last weekend, the Davis, Calif., native averaged 3.11 kills and 2.67 digs per game.
E-LECTRFYING:
After a slow start to the season, sophomore outside hitter Eli Svisco is finding her groove. Svisco pounded down 18 kills last weekend, including 10 kills in MSU's win over Southern Utah. On the season, she is averaging 1.52 kps.
