Bobcat Women Host #24 Gonzaga on Friday Night

The Montana State women’s basketball team will open its 2014-15 home season when it hosts #24 Gonzaga, Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. Gonzaga is the first nationally ranked team the Bobcats have played since losing to #13 Georgia on Dec. 20, 2011 at the Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada.
HOME OPENER:
The Montana State women's basketball team will open its 2014-15 home season when it hosts #24 Gonzaga, Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. Gonzaga is the first nationally ranked team the Bobcats have played since losing to #13 Georgia on Dec. 20, 2011 at the Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Bobcats will conclude its weekend hosting Seattle U on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m.
THIS WEEK'S VITALS:
Montana State is 1-1 overall. Gonzaga enters 2-0 overall with victories over Dayton and Big Sky foe Idaho State (88-63). The Zags are ranked # 24 in this week's AP poll. Seattle is currently 1-1 overall with a 54-47 win over Portland State and loss at Long Beach State. SU plays at Washington State on Friday.
REWINDING THE WEEK THAT WAS:
The Bobcat women's basketball team opened its 2014-15 campaign dropping a 75-60 decision at Boise State, before notching a 63-47 victory at Cal State Fullerton. At BSU, the Bobcats let a two-point deficit at the 6:33 mark of the opening stanza turn into a 39-29 margin at halftime. The Broncos pushed its advantage to an 18-point cushion, but again, MSU came back to close to within 54-49 at the 9:54 mark. The Bobcats, however, would get no closer. Junior Jasmine Hommes paced the MSU with 15 points, while Lindsay Stockton and Jackie Elliott added 12 and 10, respectively. Stockton also dished out a career-high eight assists. On Sunday, Montana State started slow getting down 6-0 in the opening minutes, but turned the table on the Titans with a 12-0 run and never relinquished the lead. For the second straight game, Hommes led MSU with a team-high 24 points, connecting on 10-16 from the field. Dawkins also hit double-digits with 12 points, connecting on five-of-eight from the floor.
