“We had a great five minutes coming out of halftime,” Binford said. “We were the aggressor on both ends; however, we couldn’t sustain that level of play.”
San Diego used a commanding 60-39 edge in rebounding and turned 32 offensive boards and 22 Montana State turnovers into 44 points to cruise to a 79-64 win over the Bobcats, Tuesday night in the Jenny Craig pavilion.
"They had relentless pursuit to the ball all game," MSU Head Coach Tricia Binford said. "We've been getting outrebounded and we have yet to find an identity in that area. It is something we need to clean up very quickly."
San Diego (4-0) jumped out to a 14-6 lead in the first four minutes and never looked back, building a 43-26 advantage at intermission. The Toreros pushed the margin to 19 points in the opening moments of the second stanza, before Montana State (2-3) went on a 9-0 run sparked by five points from Jasmine Hommes to pull to within 45-35 with 17-minutes, 17-seconds left in the game.

Hommes paced the Bobcats with a game-high 21 points, while pulling down five rebounds and adding two blocks. Dawkins finished with nine points, while Lindsay Stockton and Delany Junkermier each added eight. Senior Jackie Elliott guided the Bobcats with a team-best ten rebounds, while Dawkins added eight.
For the game, Montana State shot a respectable 43 percent from the field, including 50 percent in the second period. San Diego hit at a 37 percent clip and connected on seven-of-12 three-point attempts.
The Toreros has five players in double-figures paced by Malina Hood with 20 points.
Montana State will play Cal State Northridge at 6 p.m. on Friday as part of the CSUN Thanksgiving Tournament.
