Bobcats Pillage Vikings to Stay Atop Big Sky Standings

Montana State scored the first eight points of the game and never looked back cruising to a 106-59 win over Portland State, Saturday afternoon at the Stott Center. The 106 points set a new MSU road record for scoring production.

Jasmine Hommes led five players in double-figure scoring with a game-high 22 points on nine-of-15 from the field. She was followed by Peyton Ferris 20, Annika Lai 12, Hannah Caudill 12 and Margreet Barhoum 10. All eleven players scored for the Bobcats.
Montana State (11-4, 4-0) dished out a school-record 32 assists, led by Caudill with ten assists for her first double-double of the season. Starting point-guard Lindsay Stockton finished with five assists.
MSU shot 59 percent for the game connecting on 45-of-76, while holding Portland State (2-12, 0-3) to a frosty 22 percent. Montana State held a 53-32 lead at intermission.
Four Bobcat players posted six rebounds each – Riley Nordgaard, Delany Junkermier, Haley Blodgett, Lai – as MSU out-boarded the Vikings 54-40. Nordgaard also finished with four assists and four steals, while Ferris added five steals and true-freshman Blodgett with five blocks and four assists.
"We came out the right way in the third quarter, but we have to do a much better job taking care of the ball," Binford said. MSU committed a season-high 25 turnovers, while forcing PSU into 28 miscues.
Portland State was paced by CiCi West with 11 points and four rebounds.
With the win, Montana State posted its first Big Sky Conference road sweep since 2013. The Bobcats knocked off Sacramento State (80-79) on Thursday night. The win also puts MSU atop the league standings, a ½ game ahead of Eastern Washington.
Montana State will host North Dakota on Thursday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m., in Worthington Arena.
