“Idaho is obviously a really good team and have been the premier program in the league the last three years,” said MSU head coach Jon Reeves. “They’re in tournament mode. Mentally they are very tough and they’re disciplined point-to-point, and that’s something our young squad can take away from a match like this.”
Three-time defending Big Sky Conference champion Idaho flexed its muscle, en route to a 7-0 victory over Montana State on Saturday afternoon in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.
Idaho (11-6, 8-1) captured the opening point at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles, before claiming five of six singles matches in straight sets. Montana State (6-14, 3-7) freshman Enni Zander pushed her match to three sets winning the opener 6-4, before Maggie Chen rallied taking the final two sets 6-2, 10-7 at the No. 6 singles spot.
