BOZEMAN, Mont. – Montana State goes on the road for the final time in 2021 when the Bobcats head to St. Paul, Minn., to face the St. Thomas Tommies in Schoenecker Arena Saturday with tipoff set for 6 p.m. MT. MSU serves as St. Thomas' first Division I opponent to play in the Tommies' facility as they begin their tenure at the Division I level.
Saturday's matchup marks the first meeting between the two universities since the days Brick Breeden was at the helm of the program. MSU and St. Thomas played in St. Paul during the Bobcats' 1946-47 season, a year in which the Bobcats went 25-11 overall and won the Rocky Mountain Conference title en route to the NAIA National Tournament. MSU hosted St. Thomas twice the following season in Bozeman splitting two games in Romney Gym. St. Thomas holds a 2-1 all-time record over MSU.
The Bobcats hosted their first Division I opponent of the season on Tuesday and came away with a 68-49 victory over North Dakota State. MSU controlled the game from the start holding NDSU to its lowest field goal percentage given up to a DI opponent this year (33.3%) while the 49 points was the lowest point total by a foe in two years.
The victory Tuesday over the Bison ended a string of wins by NDSU in the series. The Bison had won five straight between the two sides with all five contests coming during the 21st century. MSU's last win in the series, despite being up 11-8 in the series, had come in 1979.
MSU's matchup versus St. Thomas will be its third against a Summit League opponent this season. The Bobcats dropped a 91-74 contest to the Summit League preseason favorite, South Dakota State, in Brookings. NDSU was picked second in the preseason polls while St. Thomas is in the midst of a move from the Division III ranks.
The Bobcats have already played eight games away from Bozeman and own a 4-4 away-neutral record so far. MSU's claimed three victories over Portland, Incarnate Word and Southeast Missouri from Nov. 26-28 to claim a regular season title at the UIW Thanksgiving Invitational in San Antonio. MSU dropped close non-conference matchups at Colorado and New Mexico along with the defeat at SDSU. The Bobcats played their first two Big Sky games on the road falling in overtime to Northern Colorado while narrowly defeating Sacramento State.
Montana State has been paced by its starting lineup of Amin Adamu, Jubrile Belo, Xavier Bishop, Abdul Mohamed and Tyler Patterson through 10 games this season. All five are playing over 26 minutes per contest and each are averaging double digits in the scoring column.
Several key figures are starting to stand out as MSU completes its first third of its schedule for the 2021-22 season. The Bobcats are 6-2 this season when an opponent shoots under 50%, including a 6-1 mark when the 'Cats outshoot the opposition. MSU is 5-1 this year when outrebounding its opponent. The Bobcats are also 6-0 this season when they keep an opponent to scoring less than 70 points.

The game will also be broadcast on the Bobcat Radio Network on KMMS 1450 AM as well as on the Varsity Network app. Links for live streams, live stats and radio coverage are available on the men's basketball schedule page on msubobcats.com.
